God's Word is our Anchor
Lord, your name is so great and powerful! People everywhere see your splendor. Your glorious majesty streams from the heavens, filling the earth with the fame of your name! Psalm 8:1
Everyday I praise and thank you for allowing me to live in such a beautiful place. The mountains are singing your praises, the fresh snow falling on the mountains is singing your praises, the rain puddling on the street is singing your praises! All your creation, such wonder and workmanship! And then there is man, why would you bother? You have made us in your image to bring you glory – praise, honor and thanksgiving.
Today, (and everyday) I am thankful for your word. It is the anchor of our marriage. We have very little in common except for food, movies, and the desire to serve others and grow spiritually. Your word is our anchor. Being away from it for just a few days causes damage to our relationship. Your Word reminds us of grace, forgiveness, do overs, unity and hope.
I am very challenged by Paul’s desire for his people to be saved (Romans 9:1-3 & 10:1). Do I care about people that don’t know you? I can’t imagine life without you. Well, that’s not true – I remember…wishing my husband was dead, stealing from employers, looking for pleasure, status and control…just like Romans 1:21-32 talks about. Your word woo’d me back; the truths in your Word about who you are and who I am in you. There is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. (Romans 8:1) No power in the sky above or in the earth below – indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate me from the love of You that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord. (Romans 8:39).
Lord, help me to care about those who do not know you. Make it the desire of my heart for them to be saved, to be in Christ, to have the life you want for them.
