![]() Sequim is known as the “Lavender Capital of North America.” While the plant grows well in other areas, it thrives in Sequim, which is home to many lavender farms. Each year during the third full weekend in July, Sequim has a lavender festival to celebrate the beauty and uses of the plant. One of the things we learned upon relocating to the area five years ago is in addition to being a pleasant fragrance used in soaps and candles, lavender is edible! A culinary variety of lavender gives a unique seasoning to many foods such as salads, potatoes, meat, cookies, and even fudge. During the month of July, WeDo Fudge provides several farms their own unique lavender fudge flavor that can be purchased solely from them. Some of the flavors are Dark Chocolate Lavender, Lavender Mocha, Salted Carmel Lavender, and Dark Chocolate Raspberry Lavender. Our newest offering which we call, “Summertime in Sequim” (Raspberry Lemonade with Lavender) can be found each Saturday at our booth at the Sequim Farmer’s Market. As people tour the area, they can pick up one or more flavors to try or give away as gifts. It is a great way to celebrate and share the beautiful Olympic Peninsula.
